Eat Locally for Thanksgiving

Thought about trying a "local Thanksgiving" by only baking and cooking dishing that are prepared with local, in season ingredients? I think it sounds like a fun challenge and I've included a link for all you Pacific Northwest folk to check out a lesson plan that was created for schools to teach their students. Even if you aren't in high school or middle school, we are all students in a way, so why not check it out. It raises some great questions and gets you thinking. Try getting at least one dish in that is based from something local. This link will help. Click on the link on the top right hand side for the Thanksgiving ideas.

If you live else where, try doing some research into what is local for your area. See the previous blog post (eatwild.com) for places to buy your meat, poultry, and dairy. For fruits and vegetables, google your local farmers market.

I would love to know what everyone is making! Since I will be in Canada for Thanksgiving (I know, its not thanksgiving there) and on an organic farm/ranch, I'm sure we will be feasting on some very local and certainly delicious food. Can't wait to report and share... and most importantly, give thanks and appreciation for the food and what it gives us - happiness, health, and life.
